Travel Travel Writing

Bye 2018! Hello 2019!

Happy new year everyone! A little late to the party I know but I wanted to share with you what I’m proud to have achieved in 2018 and what I want to keep continue doing in 2019. I’ve never been one to set new years resolutions and I want to keep blogging as fun as possible. So no follower goals, no pushing myself to post on Instagram everyday and no blogging just for the sake of it. Just a little reminder for myself what I did last year and what I’d like to do this year!

Continue to travel

2018 was a big one for me and my boyfriend Dan for travelling. We had a few short trips to Europe, which included a much needed weekend break to Barcelona and a very last minute trip to Scotland! And then we had a big two month adventure around South-East Asia. We love the feeling of exploring a new place, staying somewhere different and of course, trying all new foods we can get our hands on.

These experiences are something we look forward to and look back on in harder times and we want to keep this up. 2019 travel is going to focus on a lot more U.K. based travel and I’ve got some exciting trips to plan this year!

Attend more blogging events

Badge

2018 was the first year I’ve actually attended any blogging events, despite having been blogging on and off for eight years. WTM London, was my first glimpse at a travel event and I loved it. I met like-minded travel bloggers, some of which I had followed on Twitter, some who were completely new to me. I got to talk and listen to talks about travel, plus I came away with some great contacts, free stuff and a Banksy poster.

I’ve had to turn down a few invites to blogging events due to my anxiety, but 2019 is there year I’m going to tackle this and get more involved! I’ve already secured tickets to Travel Story, a London event organised by Euroventure and it is already looking to be a fantastic night with lots of inspirational talks! And as well as this I am going to be attending my very first Traverse Event. Traverse19 takes place in Trentino next year, so guess who’s going to Italy??

Work with more brands

Bloggers

2018 was the first year I’d collaborated with brands on my blog. I’d never put myself out there to brands before but having developed my writing, made my blog look more professional and become part of a community I felt confident in doing so.

I’ve been lucky enough to have worked with some incredible brands. Debenhams were kind enough to treat me to a VIP Package to Florence and the Machine, I’ve been able to blog about cheese and gelato due to some great food events I have attended, PLUS I’ve been sent some awesome travel prints and travel guides and been paid to write a travel blog!

And 2019 is the year to build in this and work with more brands I love. I’ve already secured two collaborations next year for an exciting UK road trip and I can’t wait to get planning! But the aim is to definitely secure a lot more. I absolutely love blogging and it’s such a passion of mine, but getting brands on board who want to work with you, despite being a smaller blogger, is always such a great feeling.

And there you have it! It’s not a huge list and it’s not a definitive list but it’s a start. 2019 looks to be an exciting year in more ways than one and I can’t wait. Have you got anything you’d love to continue doing this year? Whether it’s travel related or not I’d love to hear from you all!

Until next time.
