Insect bites are one of the worst things about travel for me. Unfortunately, mosquitos, midges and even fleas seem to love me. I react badly to the bites, so much so it affects my trips. So when it comes to insect repellent technology, I’ve tried my fair share. We’re talking sprays, creams, plug-ins and wristbands. So hearing about We Drifters Anti-Insect Sleepwear really piqued my interest.
To be fully transparent about my affiliation with We Drifters. I was given a ticket to the We Drifters Stories pop-up event back in late 2019. It was a fantastic evening full of inspiring talks and travel chat, plus I got to meet Naudia Salmon, the person behind We Drifters As well as a ticket to the event, I was gifted a set of the Anti-Insect Sleepwear too. I wear these pyjamas a lot, but I am yet to use them where midges or mosquitoes are prevalent. So as much as I can review the sleepwear in terms of comfort and style, I have yet to test the repellent nature of the pyjamas.
The We Drifters Story
We Drifters began where some of the best stories do. Whilst travelling in South East Asia. Whilst exploring Naudia discovered a more annoying side to travel. Bugs. Having grown tired of using insect repellent on a daily basis, climbing into sleeping bag liners, or worse wear head nets Naudia created her own insect repellent. In the form of pyjamas. And the world of We Drifters has been busy ever since. From hosting pop-up events across the capital and creating a community of drifters online. To being featured by the likes of Wanderlust Magazine, Stylist and Active Traveller. And more recently being chosen to advertise nationally as part of the Ocean Outdoor UK SME support fund- we’re talking giant billboards. We Drifters are going from strength to strength.
A little about the Anti-Insect Sleepwear
The We Drifters Anti-Insect Sleepwear is stylish, lightweight and is designed to be 90% effective against biting insects. In terms of fabric, this sleepwear is made from 68% bamboo. It’s not only great to use for sleepwear, as it’s breathable and sweat-wicking. But it’s one of the most eco-friendly materials around. It requires less water and yields more than cotton, plus it has natural antimicrobial properties which keep the fabric feeling fresher for longer. So if you’re heading off to warmer climes on your future travels, these will keep the bugs away and you’ll stay cool too. The sizing for the sleepwear is unisex and currently, it only comes in one colour.
How much does the We Drifters Anti-Insect Sleepwear cost?
The sleepwear set is priced at £85. Included in this cost are an Anti-Insect Top and Anti-Insect Trousers (which can be attached together to form a onesie). Plus a pair of Anti-Insect Ankle Socks and an Anti-Insect pillowcase, which can be doubled up as a storage bag. Yes, the price tag may seem like a high price to pay for pyjamas, but they’re so worth it. And hey, by investing in good quality, higher-priced items, which support small business too, you’re already practising a great way to live more sustainably too.
So if you’ve struggled with insect bites in the past now may be the time to invest in the We Drifters Anti-Insect Sleepwear. They’ve partnered with Work for Good to donate £2 from every sale to Malaria No More. Plus they’re offering 50% off their sleepwear to all NHS staff you can find out how to get this discount here.
Until next time.
